Hello Florida shooters. I’m looking for the best place to shoot birds in the morning. I’m staying near sea world and would like to find a place within 1/2 hour or so.
If anyone interested in shooting with me please email or pm me (e-mail address removed)
Thanks

With all that is taking place in our country last few yrs, us photo “shooters” may havre to change our vernacular.

On the weekends, Lake Apopka Wildlife drive is about 30 minutes from Sea World, and is an excellent location.

Only two that I'm aware of. Hit what you aim at, and don't aim at people you like!!

I don’t order to hunt birds with a shotgun, I prefer to shoot presents with a 7mm. That way you can shoot an inch or two next to the head and the 140 gr (9 g) Nosler AB traveling 3110 ft/sec (950m/s) will do the job without making a mess of the bird No fuss man.

The other way, if you lose your rifle is to rip some chicken wire into a long tube, then put some fresh grain at one end and they will crawl into it (and can’t back out) that’s too easy no worries!

I recommend the Circle B Bar reserve in Lakeland. Free and not far from Orlando.

Gatorland also has lots of nesting birds in the back area. You can take your gear on a cart and use a monopod or tripod.

Merrit Island National Wildlife Refuge just north of the Space Center is also a great birding location the winter. You might be fortunate enough to also photograph a rocket as it flies off into space. Access from Titusville.

In Florida, you will find wading birds at every lake, canal, river, creek and stream that you stumble upon. Not that much of an exaggeration.

Circle B Bar and Merritt are excellent suggestions.

It’s about an hour drive from Orlando to Merrit Island wildlife refuge and well worth the drive
