Just found out I got the OK to attend a training seminar just outside of Las Vegas. Our hotel is a couple of blocks off the Strip and I want to try and get some shots of the Strip at night. Can anyone suggest locations to get shots that would include some of the iconic hotel signs and attractions? Thanks.

I would imagine any camera or phone would work on auto. The strip is awfully bright. You can read there.

If you can take a helicopter ride at dusk, It is worth the effort and cost . It has been years since my wife and I did the sightseeing helicopter ride but as I recall it was only about ten minutes.

I don't recall if the copter has open windows.

Freemont Street is a great photo location. It is NOT on the strip, but worth getting over there. You could also try to get on the giant ferris wheel they have, I think its near Mandalay Bay. If you got on that, you'd get some pretty good photos.

Outside of that, do some research on which hotels have rooftop access. While a bar might not be the best location to bring a camera, it could pay off with the right view.

I used to stay at Mandalay once a year for my company's kick-off. I always requested East facing rooms and was rewarded with magnificent sunrises. I live in NY and would do my best to stay on East Coast time while I was there. It wasn't the best for staying up late, but when you wake up at 4am Vegas time, you can always watch the sunrise.

There are open sky bridges that go over Las Vegas Blvd (the Strip) that will give you great angles & views. Also just shooting the iconic casinos from across the Blvd (between traffic light changes) works too. Also worthwhile to go downtown to Fremont Street for both some of the original casinos and street scene.

Anywhere. There is lots of action and many stores have shows you can shoot from the street.

There is an observation tower at the top of the Eiffel Tower at Paris. There is a charge to go up, but well worth it just for the experience. You get views of up and down the strip and look directly down at the Bellagio Fountains. If I remember right, there is a fence, but spots to put your camera through to take photos. There is also an observation deck on top of the Stratosphere hotel. (It’s the one down the strip that looks like the Space Needle) It looks south and you’ll be able to capture the entire strip. They have a few rides up there, too, which were a little much for me to try. Again, years ago I think it was $15 to go up but if you join their rewards club you got $15 in slots play, so it was a wash. They never bugged me after joining. You can stay as long as you like. For both spots, plan to be up there at dusk, watch the sunset and see the lights come on. Have fun!

Why not just walk the streets and visualize.

Two of my shots there:

1) Fremont street, street level, with amazing two block long overhead screen and zip-liners overhead and brightly lighted casinos.

2) Three minute time exposure through my room window at the Excalibur Hotel and Resort, looking towards the MGM Grand, Las Vegas blvd.

Cheers and best to you

The Eiffel Tower or any of the bridges that cross Las Vegas Blvd.

There is a restaurant that sits on the hill outside Vegas. There is a great view of the whole strip but you need a zoom lens.
I’ll try to find the name.
