High tides and big waves did it

Went to the wetlands at Bolsa Chica to do some walking and take some shots today but was made to drive around to the other end of the coastal marsh to get access. A minor inconvenience. It would seem the high tides combined with this mornings high surf and now the Pacific Coast Highways southbound lanes are once again flooded. I was able to walk along the cliff and then down into the marsh trails and go to the center of the closed highway. View is looking North into Sunset Beach.

That whole area is prone to flooding. It gets even worse when we have the conditions we have now. 💧

Don’t I know it! I was just there yesterday and the road was open. I like to walk and observe all along the trails that line the lagoons and channels.

Looks like a New Orleans street after a heavy rain.

The same thing happens out on the Balboa Peninsula. Pumped out many a manhole to get to the cables and electronics in them in Balboa. You would pump one and the water would seep in from the conduits going in either direction. Some places you had to pump em out two at a time.
