I guess I'm fortunate. I get two or three letters a year, and no bills.

My concern with going paperless is that when I breathe my last gasp,
the bills will still be sent to my e-mail address and my wife will never
know that we owe $X to company Y. Creditors will then start sending
dunning letters via snail mail to our address / wife. She does not need
that added grief when she's mourning the loss of her loving me!

I have all regular bills like utilities and insurance drafted. I use one 2% back card for everything else and pay it once a month - that’s the only bill that my widow will need to worry about paying manually. I also have a detailed 3 page letter and a couple of videos discussing all details (acct numbers, PWs, home maintenance, life insurance, etc). It’s really important to leave a list of assets and liabilities for your executor. Learned this after settling 5 estates for family members.

I’m considering installing a trashcan outside beside the mailbox to avoid bringing it in as almost all my mail is junk.

I've noticed that many post offices have a large (very large) trashcan next to the P.O. Boxes.

If I paid once a month, I'd miss the day and pay interest. I wait for the charge to go from "Pending" to "Posted," and then I pay it. By paying more frequently, the amount is smaller. : )

I had a note on my calendar to cancel a newspaper subscription. Unfortunately, the charge came through a few days early. I was able to go online and cancel and get a refund.

My CC company emails me a reminder about 5 days prior to the due date…

Right, and Quicken can be set to enter it, too.

I have all paper billings because that way I don't forget to pay them. I pay as soon as I got them in the mail. I don't check the email all the time and even when i do I may still miss them because I have way more junk email than junk snail mail.

I think I saw a cartoon like that: Mail - Junk Mail.

I like knowing what mail I'm getting ahead of time so I know if it's worth walking down the driveway to get it. We get ads for windows and a plumber several times a week.

We now get an email from the post office with a picture of every piece of mail we will receive that day. Sure saves going to the mailbox when its only junk mail
