Do you ever have days when you want to go out and do something and at the same time you can't get enough gumption? xoxo

Would those be the days that I open the curtains, see all the white out there and say it isn't worth going out?

That would probably be the best day to do that! πŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ€£ xoxoxo

I'm looking forward to starting mine. I just need to finish DD's socks.

You just reminded me that I have a pair of socks on needles .... it's a different pattern, to what I usually use, so I had to wait for the DGD's to get here, so that I could have the correct measurements, for each of the girls, so that they fit properly. I will get on to them, when I finish catching up. I hope you get your socks finished, by the time you need to finish them! xoxoxo

Our farmer markets, except 1, are closed now until the spring. That coincides with the rise in vegetable prices. We'll be eating broccoli (it stays reasonably priced all winter long for some reason) and the frozen vegetables from the garden.
I'm glad you are feeling better.

I think there used to be Farmer's Markets, in the region I grew up in, but they aren't so common anymore. I think the remaining Market Gardeners still have markets, but they are mainly down in the South of the state, nearer to Adelaide!

Happy New Year to you Polly.
Do what you can, when you can.
Good for you for finishing the sweater. I'm a starter, not a finisher. My New Year's resolution is to actually finish some of the projects I still have on needles, or frog them and reclaim the yarn.

I woke this morning with a cold. Runny nose cough occasionally. And diarea. What fun. Hoping it’s not Covid. Not sure how to tell.
Every time I talk to friends and they ask me to go with them for lunch I get sick. I had some chicken noodle soup not sure what to eat.

It didn't work and I ended up having to get the washing done, he read the paper first load and watched The News second load. Oh well at least I know where I stand now. xx

Good morning from a partially cloudy but mild Norfolk although wind promised for this afternoon. Having a rest day today after all my exertions of yesterday, slow roast ribs today so they're doing their own thing in the oven. Beginning to get back into my knitting, a 100G ball of yarn has never taken so long to knit up. Have a good day, try and stay safe and well. xx

I'm told all the time that "knitting is not a race. It's an experience." If you are enjoying the knitting, keep doing it, at your pace.
After all my talk of your curries, DD made a chicken curry last night. It was yummy.
Take it easy.

My "Good Morning" post disappeared, so trying again.
Good morning from Port Hope Ontario Canada. It is 7:00 am EST and 0'C (32'F). It was raining hard half an hour ago. We are under a freezing rain warning.
The government is now investigating what caused all the travel delays during the Christmas/New Year period on both planes and trains. (Can you say once-in-a-hundred-years' storm?) Some of the travellers were complaining because they never made it to Punta Cana but their luggage did. Some travellers were brought back to Calgary Canada after being stranded in the Caribbean, then ended up stranded in Calgary. They are still sorting out luggage at Toronto airport and trying to get it where it is supposed to go.
Work was busy yesterday. One of our processes changed over the holidays, and it wasn't an improvement. It will get sorted. Eventually. I'm just glad I don't have to be on an icy highway today. Toronto's mayor was complaining that not as many people are coming downtown to work and it is affecting revenue for Toronto transit. All the students who were working over the holidays are now back to college and university.
I did some more work on the LYS KAL cowl. It's going to be HUGE. Good thing I am also knitting the same thing in smaller yarn and smaller needles. I think the smaller one will be more useable.

Do you have any of the home covid tests?
There are a bunch of flu and cold viruses going around here.
I always like Campbell's Chicken Noodle soup from a can. They might as well have packaged soggy noodles in salt, but when I'm not feeling well, that's usually what I can keep down.

The farmer's markets used to be bigger towns and cities. The farmers' market here in Port Hope only runs during the summer and has become a combination farmer market and handicraft market. Now the farmers put individual stands on their own farm and that seems to work better for them. The one north of Port Hope and the farm stand in Colborne about 1/2 hour drive east, both stay open all year because they have baked goods and frozen meat for sale year round.

I have been trying out different sock patterns. I tried the typical gusset and heel flap, fleegle heel, and shadow wrap heel. I'm now trying one with ribbing on the sole. I'm not sure I can walk on the ribbing but we shall see. I have previously knit the Sweet Tomato heel, and dutch heel. Then I'll start on different toes.
When I knit DD's socks, I traced her foot on cardboard and marked where the start of her leg was and where her ankles were. Her feet are weirdly shaped. She wears a size 9 extra wide shoe but her feet are only 7-1/2" long. Her instep is 12" circumference which is why she needs the bigger shoe. Usually she wears men's shoes because they actually have more room.
The fleegle heel pattern includes pages of instruction for making the cardboard foot. I found it useful for checking my progress without constantly having her try the socks on.

DH & I didn't wait up for New Year's celebrations, but we did manage to hear the celebrations of other people's parties and fireworks. There would have been quite a few confused drug users, around the local area on New Year's, because the dealers use fireworks to notify the users of the availability of the products that they need. There might have been some ordinary people getting visits from those who were expecting to be able to get their new doses. πŸ€”πŸ™„πŸ€¨ xoxoxo

ooops. That would be an unexpected visit.

Hello ladies, atm I am watching a program called "Wildlife Rescue", and the first little creature rescued is a baby long nosed Bandicoot, who fell out of his mum's pouch, when she ran across a road. He is such a cute little thing, with no fur, such a beautiful little creature. It is really wonderful to see so many of these animals being returned to the wild, after they have been healed of whatever injuries they suffered before their rescue. I think I would have liked to do the kind of work these people do. They are repairing a pelicans' beak pouch, which has suffered a huge tear, which would have caused him to starve to death.

Anyway, I will now do some more catchup, and Jackie, I really hope that you are well on the way to full recovery from your illness! xoxoxo

We only have one wildlife rehabilitator that I know of, near Barrie, north of Toronto. The Peterborough zoo will take in animals that have been hit by a car. Usually those animals are too injured to ever be released back to the wild. The Reptile Zoo near my sister's house will take any turtle or snake that has been injured.
