The Merced River, not too far from the El Portal entrance to Yosemite National Park, has been raging due to the recent rains. This photo was taken with a Nikon Z6 and the Nikon Z 24mm-120mm lens, handheld, with an ND filter.
Shutter speed was 1/5 sec.

I do not like B/W as you can tell. I can't figure out how to delete the post. I thought I had unsubscribed from b/w section and didn't realize I hadn't. Sorry about the snarky post. I think most of the b/w shooters will like that photo.

Why did you subscribe to a forum section you don’t like in the first place? If you don’t like B&W then you have no reason to even make a comment on a B&W image.

Give it a chance. I used to have an aversion for B/W for quite a long time and still believe that some images are not well suited for B/W. On the other hand, B/W can often hide a multitude of "sins" and lend a certain je ne sais pas to an image. Getting to like B/W took me less time than getting to like eating broccoli. . . .

Another vote for like it. I can appreciate both color and B&W. Some images don't look good in B&W, some either way and still some B&W is the way to go.

I decided to convert this photo to black and white because the water was very muddy, and not clear. If clear I probably would have left it in color. I also thought it would make more of a statement (and elicit a certain emotion) in black and white.

To me it takes away some of the emphasis that color has. However there are some photos that I like in b/w such as lines, vanishing point, texture and others like that. But this photo to me would have been so much more beautiful in natural color
