When One Rail purchased Genesee & Wyoming Australia rail operations in 2020 One Rail decided to retain G&W's orange and black colours. Aurizon purchased the operation from One Rail in July 2022 and have embarked on a program to repaint the locomotives in their bright yellow livery. They certainly stand out.

Darwin bound freight negotiates the hills north of Alice Springs after a short stop on Sunday 18th December 2022.

They have been in Australia since 1997 Longshadow.

Great pictures. Do you know what company makes the locomotives and what model they are? Are they built in Australia? --Richard

Thanks for your feedback Richard. As far as I can determine from my research GWB101 was built by Progress Rail USA and remained in storage for some time before being purchased by an Australian rail operator. ALF23 was built by Morris Knudsen Australia. Both are powered by EMD engines. Bogie configuration Co-Co.
