I've been thinking of trying something new. I've used Photoshop Elements and Lightroom Classic but wonder what else is out there. Luminar Neo comes to mind but I've heard they have problems with printing.

Do you process raw files or RGB (JPEG) files? That makes all the difference.

Luminar has no printing problems for me. Easier to use without looking up a lot of hidden things as in Lightroom.

Luminar Neo with their new individual add-on modules sold separately get to be an expensive way to go. There is as good or better software available for less. I'd suggest looking into "ON1 Photo RAW" or for a more Photoshop look and feel, "Affinity Photo". Either or both I feel are better options.

I have used LR for many years. Bought recently Luminar Neo and I like it. I didn't buy Neo's extensions as they are way too expensive and I have Topaz Gigapixel, Noise and Sharpen that do the same things. Today I got a Black Friday offer to buy a new InPixio 12 Pro for a few bucks (I already have a subscription). The offer was too good to ignore and I downloaded it. So far I like it. I will need to run a few comparo tests to decide which one is the best, Neo, Topaz, or Inpixio.
In the past I tried demos of ON1 and Affinity and found them to be too complex and difficult to use, compared to LR Classic.

Are you on the current version of Lightroom Classic? If not, that's the something new you should try. The new masking and other features, coupled with Photoshop and the other more mobile Lightrooms will make a great new adventure.

Affinity Photo, particularly now that verson 2 is released. On sale now for $40.99 for a perpetual license. No further payment for upgrades until version 3 is released, and version 1 lasted 4 years. Does everything and is customizable. Many tutorials available from the maker (serif.com, a french company) and on youtube.com.

Glad you're coming around, Jerry. ON1 is the best choice for most serious post-processors.

A serious suggestion, though. UHH should set up a separate topic for such questions, inasmuch as there recently seems to be at least one or two such per day!!!!! It could include guidelines for how to set up the questions with the proper information to get a meaningful answer and how to pay attention to that information and stay on track with answers!!!

Since you have Lr and PSE already, an important criteria you might want to consider before adding any new processing software to your current workflow is the "plug-in" feature. Skylum products (Luminar Neo) have a pretty good (seamless) connection with LightRoom and Photoshop Elements. I have found that without this feature the "annoyance" factor goes way up. There are so many great options there’s no right answer. For years I have felt if I was forced to use only one program I would go with ACDSee. But now I think I would go with Luminar Neo. I also urge you to download the trial of Excire Foto as a DAM. It’s ability to automatically add keywords to photos is amazing. Recently I have been experimenting with DXO PhotoLab 6. It’s also easy to use, powerful and a lot of fun.
