I bought a Tivo Edge with lifetime service a few months ago. I still haven't connected it, and I'm paying $16.95/month for my old unit. The Edge has different connections than the old one, and I already know that it's not going to work when I connect it. Then, of course, I have several hours of recordings on the current unit. I think I can connect that to a TV to watch the shows.
I have a separate box for the Cable Card. That card will go right inside Tivo Edge, so the box won't be needed.
Have any of you replaced an older Tivo with the Edge? Any advice?

But this will save me money - $16.95/mo. : )

Only if you get it to work.

Yes, just install it. You procrastinate too much.
As I mentioned to you yesterday in a separate post, I installed TiVo Edge and it worked flawlessly. BTW, I did have to get a new cable card from Xfinity for the Edge. Your current cable card most likely won’t work, so just get a new one before you start settling it up. I still have my old TiVo box hooked up to a different HDMI port in case I want to look at any programs I still have on that box (but never have). I no longer pay the subscription fee for the old box.

We used to have a Spectrum store in town, but it closed. I see there is a store in a different location. I'll get a new card before I start. Thanks for the excuse to delay this even more.
My current box has audio outputs, but the new one doesn't. I doubt that I need those outputs, anyway. The cables go somewhere, but I haven't traced them. The wires back there form a jungle.

The cable that comes with the Edge has an HDMI connection. Hopefully you have those ports on the back of your TV. If not, you’ll probably need to get another cable type.

Yes, this TV has quite a few, but the other one has only two.
