I received an email from the Amazon CC bank telling me that there is a charge of $150.12. I had no idea what that could be, so I had Amazon call me. It's the annual Prime renewal. There is no indication anywhere indicating the purpose of that charge. So, if you see a similar charge, you know what it's for.

Mine renewed last month. With all the things I order from them and watching Prime Video it's worth it for me.

I got free Amazon Prime when I signed up with MetroPCS for cell service. Given the cost I figured it would be for a year, but here it is 3 years later and I still have it and have never been charged for renewal. Lucky me.

Usually Amazon contacts you beforehand of any increase.
Maybe you should call them?

Yes, I called yesterday. That's how I found out what the charge was for.

I do a lot of shopping with Amazon...so the Prime membership is a no brainer.
The shipping savings already picks up the tab, and I get amazon movies and music at no extra cost.
For me, the music is just as important as the movie end.

If you don't buy from Amazon much...more of a calculation.

I did have a similar experience. A charge showed up when I had bought nothing from Amazon. It turned out to be a "Prime fee" which keeps going up as we speak. No notification, just a charge I did not expect.

Most credit cards let you request notices if there is a charge over a certain amount or from a foreign country, etc.

My cards send me an email every time any charge is made.

Just looked at my account. Prime renews in July for me. It's listed at $139/year so $150.12 implies 8% sales tax.

I'll probably let it renew. I use it.

Yes, it's very convenient that they take my money without me doing anything.

Yup that's the internet is good at. They can take your money instantly. Delivering your goods? Not so. That's why I love the few local stores I still have. I much rather drive than wait for the blue or white truck (they don't use brown ones that often any more).
