It's a shame that citizens of a supposedly civilized society feel a need to carry a firearm for protection but that's what this country has come to, a lawless society with little to no respect for their fellow man. I hadn't owned a gun for years until a few years ago when I purchased a 9mm pistol for protection. I don't have a conceal and carry permit but I would have one if I lived in a high crime area. I attend a small country church where at least two carry and I feel safer because of that. As more and more law abiding citizens carry I hope that will be a deterrent.

I would do the same if it would not cause a divorce.

The highest sales are to women of handguns today.
With virtually all states, thanks to the NRA, now have concealed carry.

My wife and I lived just outside of Memphis for 6 years (7 years too long) and the crime rate there was so bad, we decided to take a concealed weapons course and I have carried ever since.

Today's society in America has deteriorated to the point where I don't think it will ever turn around and get better. I read that 28 stores have closed or boarded up on the Magnificent Mile in Chicago, due to the rampant crime there now. When you have 1 to maybe 5 stores per block... well, you do the math.

The stupidity of everyone owning a gun though is quite obvious. When one reads a paper or watches the news - every day - they hardly ever read about someone shooting a home grown terrorist or someone committing a crime... oh, it happens, now and then but, the average story when a gun is involved is a mass murder, a robbery, a drive-by, or a suicide.

Yay, guns!

More crimes are stopped long before pulling the trigger by armed citizens thus are not newsworthy.
If it bleeds, and fits the democrat agenda, it leads.

The 'more gun' for 'protection' is pure BS.

Most shootings are within folks that knew each other, not strangers.

As to the NRA? Remember its origin and how extreme it has become. Thank the NRA for the proliferation of guns that should NEVER be in the hands of civilians.

As long as there are folks like you that bow to guns as if they were god given salvation, we will not find a decent solution.

Carry and conceal serves a purpose but carrying openly is far more effective. NOBODY is going to try and masscre others when they are openly armed. Concealed carry is our court's method of protecting sick minds. America has catered to the "rights" of criminals for over 1/2 century and we have suffered accordingly. If our government will not protect us we need to either replace that government or start protecting ourselves. Washington is too concerned with internal "empire building" than in runnming this country.

Well, I agree that Washington has their own "empire building" agenda but, open carry? No!

Open carry would result in ANYONE being able to "open carry" everywhere... in stores, restaurants, schools, churches, etc. - Chaos, in other words.

Concealed means you at least, have to take a course that explains YOUR responsibilities when you decide to use a gun to stop someone. When I got my carry permit, I was finger printed and that was sent to the FBI. I see no problem with that. I think every gun sold should also have a ballistics test sent to the FBI - from the manufacturer.

PS... You seem to forget, as do other constitutionalists here in the Attic, that we already have a means to replace the government... it is called v****g - not guns!

Where were your protests when women lost the right to control their own bodies?
