The Perfect Computer Setup???

Now that my main computer is up and running with larger C and D drives, I want to swap out this Dell and get it set up. The problem is that I'd like the setup to be perfect. I have three printers, backup drives, several USB hubs, UPS backup, scanner, speakers, battery charger.

First, I'll have to clear the mess off my desk and start from scratch. Then I'll have to figure where to put everything and how to run the miles of wires. My desk has a space for the computer, but Big Red is too big, so it has to go on top of this roll top desk.

Looking online at computer setups is like looking at the perfect garage. No one in real life has a garage like this, and it makes normal people feel inferior. I have a two-car garage, and I hope to be able to fit my Fit inside before it snows.

It's so much easier to keep using the Dell. Maybe I'll wait till tomorrow to work on this.

You don't want to put Big Red on the floor?

It would have to go in the footwell under the desk, and I'd keep kicking it. It would pick up a lot more dust sitting on the floor.

This is the solution. Get twice the RAM you think you need. Get twice the drive space you think you need. Put it together and enjoy!

Thanks! You made my day. Now I can buy all that with a clear conscience because someone on the Internet told me to do it.

I still have to connect all the peripherals, though, and do it neatly.

Jerry: I should fly you out to Utah to help me set up my new Dell XPS. Perhaps the practice would be beneficial when you go to set up your significantly more complex system.

You can put your box anywhere. All you need is a good HDMI or d cable for the monitor and a wireless keyboard and mouse. Why does the box have to be within reach? My box is in the small office off my big mancave. My computer desk is connected to only my dual monitors to the box and my TV is connected to the box with a 50ft hi dollar HDMI cable. I can't remember the specs of the cables but they are twice as expensive as normal ones. Why? Not sure just always trying to future proof. Lol

I have two optical drives which I use occasionally. I also have a drawer in front for a hard drive.

"Why? Not sure just always trying to future proof." I know what you mean. I sometimes wonder exactly why I bought something, and I tell myself that it's good to have.
