I've been seeing Black Friday ads for Peacock Streaming Service for 99 cents per month for one year. Looked at the programs they offer and was appalled at the collection of stupid programs they have in their menu. Very few my wife and I would be interested in. What streaming service is your favorite and I'll give it a look? I did look at the Hulu offerings which are much better than Peacock. I'm quite uninformed how streaming works. We have a Smart Samsung TV. If we discontinue our Spectrum Service Provider, do we still access whatever streaming content we sign up for?

We watch Brit Box a lot (but one has to like Britcoms, Britmysts, etc...)
We also have Disney +.

Streaming is via the internet not "Cable TV". You would need to retain an internet service.

Everyone's tastes in programming are different.
Just make sure you can get your local channels via internet.

I can watch Peacock, Paramount+. HBO Max, Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Disney+ through my Samsung TVs. The TVs connect through my wireless router, so Internet is required. My Xfinity boxes can theoretically connect to all of these services, but the connection through cable is sluggish, especially with Paramount+, so I just use my TVs for them. If you don't see a particular one after you press the home button, move over to "Apps" and see if you can find the one that you want. You can also move apps to your Samsung home screen.

There is no one streaming service that will offer everything you might want to watch. We're watching The English on Prime Video. We just watched A Friend of the Family on Peacock (with too many damn commercials, so I decided to pay an extra 5 bucks a month for the commercial free version). We watch a considerable amount of stuff on Netflix.

I get my local channels via the antenna.

I have one room in my house set up that way. I'm not paying for a third cable box that will hardly ever get used. I'm at the top of a hill overlooking the Sacramento Valley in California. I can pull in about 40 channels that are broadcast. I find that a directional antenna works best, but some adjustments in position are required for some channels.

As stated previously, you will still need an internet connection, if you ditch cable tv. If you go overboard with pay streaming services, it can add up to what one might pay for cable or in some cases exceed the cost of cable. There are many free (wit advertising) services like Pluto TV, Tubi, etc.; just google "free streaming services" to find what might appeal to you.

In my case, I gave up cable three years ago. I get Amazon Prime video as a result of my Amazon Prime annual subscription, YouTubeTV, Acorn, and BritBox (we love British mysteries, humor, detective series, and history). In addition, we also use several free apps like Roku TV, Pluto, etc. For about $100 monthly we have access to broadcast tv (including local channels for news) , movies, several cable networks, sports channels, and the like. Beats the $158 per/mo. that cable was costing without the additional choices, and I don't have to scroll past shopping networks and other channels that we never watched.

And, no, we are not addicted to TV; when we want to watch, we want the choice to be ours.

Agreed. No one service will offer everything you want. I currently have Hulu on pause (yes, you can do that) and also have Netflix, Amazon Prime, HBO Max, Discovery+ and Disney+. Cut the TV cable over a year ago, saved $100 on my Spectrum bill, and have not missed it. Again, if you find you are not watching all of it (or, like us, waiting for a new show's season a few months away) there is an option to pause your subscription where you won't get billed until you activate it again.

I am thinking of buying a new TV with ATSC 3.0 tuner so I can watch 4K programming via the the antenna.

Best bang for the buck is the Hulu package. We get Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN+ for 14.99 a month. I also get Sling for 50.00 a month (for both the Blue and Orange Package). That gives me the best sports package. I will drop them for March through September after football and college basketball has ended. We have Prime Video because my wife is an Amazon Plus member.

We don't watch a lot of tv but we have specific favorites. We have internet, Sling (Very flexible), and AirTv which combines Sling with OAT local channels in one box. In addition to local channels (for news and weather) and Brit Box and Acorn. I've found nothing else on network tv worth watching. With Sling we can add or remove lots of optional features at will.

For streaming, you need Internet. So if you quit Spectrum you still need to keep the Internet portion. You can’t use streaming services with antennas.
Peacock & Peacock Plus are NBC products. You won’t get regular TV with them, only reruns.
“I cut the cord” several years ago, during Covid and never looked back. I had made up my mind after my monthly bill with Optimum went to $325. I had asked them if they could reduce the bill several times and when they told me to return boxes to cut costs I told them several times that they were “…not seeing the handwriting on the wall.”
I use YouTube TV. Gives me all my basic channels (CBS, NBC, ABC, PBS, etc.) For additional content I use Disney +, (probably our favorite streaming service,) Paramount +, Discover +, History Channel (non-subscription,) several others and , since I have Amazon Prime, I get videos & more as part of the deal.

Agree with Britbox suggestion. It's become our favorite channel
