Canon has a bunch of specials right now. They dropped $300 of the RF 70-200/4 L lens. Has a wondrous review by Ken Rockwell, so I got one. Super compact. Other specials.

Excellent news.
Now post some shots with that Excellent lens.
It’s a nice Baby White Zoom. I have the EF 70-300mm 1:4 IS USM that works very nicely. I do hope that Canon drops a bunch of prices on their stuff.

Canon isn't make EF lenses any longer, including the model you mention, as that one never existed ...

Perhaps the discontinued 70-300mm f4-5.6?
FWIW, Canon is still "making" EF/EF-S lenses. They discontinued some 25 or so, but there are still more EF/EF-S lenses (51) than there are the new RF/RF-S lenses (31, so far). Lenses are made in batches. The factory might tool up and make 1000 70-200mm f/2.8 in a week, for example. Then it might be a year or two before they make them again, once the previous year's batch has largely been sold. So some of the "current" EF/EF-S lenses may not be re-stocked, may be discontinued, if demand for them drops below a certain level. The EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS II USM lens is still available to purchase new... i.e., not yet officially discontinued. (But there never has been an f/4 version of it... only variable aperture f/4-5.6 versions.)
Looking at B&H Photo, other than a few small ($10 to $20) discounts on "film maker" and "portrait" kits, the only Canon EF lenses (for EOS DSLR) I could find on sale right now are the "holy trinity":
- EF 16-35mm f/2.8L USM III.......... $1999 ($200 Holiday Savings)
- EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM II........... $1699 ($200 Holiday Savings)
- EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM III.... $1899 ($200 Holiday Savings)
There quite a few Canon RF lenses (for R-series mirrorless) on sale with relatively large discounts, although many folks felt RF lenses were a bit over-priced to begin with. For example, now that it's on sale the RF 70-200mm f/4L is the same price as the EF version. Before the discount, the RF version was selling for 20% higher price.:
- RF 5.2mm f/2.8 L Dual Fisheye 3D VR... $1799 ($200 savings)
- RF 35mm f/1.8 Macro IS STM................ $399 ($100 savings)
- RF 50mm f/1.8 STM............................. $149 ($50 savings)
- RF 50mm f/1.2 L USM......................... $2099 ($200 savings)
- RF 85mm f/2 Macro IS STM.................. $499 ($100 savings)
- RF 85mm f/1.2 L USM......................... $2599 ($200 savings)
- RF 85mm f/1.2 L USM DS.................... $2899 ($200 savings)
- RF 100mm f/2.8 L Macro IS USM........... $999 ($400 savings)
- RF 600mm f/11 IS STM........................ $699 ($100 savings)
- RF 800mm f/11 IS STM........................ $899 ($100 savings)
- RF 14-35mm f/4 L IS USM.................. $1299 ($400 savings)
- RF 15-35mm f/2.8 L IS USM............... $1999 ($400 savings)
- RF 70-200mm f/4 L IS USM................ $1499 ($300 savings)
- RF 100-400mm f/5.6-8 IS USM............. $499 ($150 savings)
Plus a couple Canon EF-M lenses (for M-series mirrorless) on sale at significant savings:
- EF-M 22mm f/2 STM............$179 ($50 savings)
- EF-M 32mm f/1.4 STM..........$399 ($80 savings)
Keep in mind that EF and EF-S lenses can be adapted for use on either R-series or M-series cameras (also onto Sony E-mount and possibly others). But Canon RF lenses and EF-M lenses can only be used on their respective system cameras, AFAIK cannot be adapted for use on any other system.

You may be mistaken or I didn’t properly write the lens designation. Either way, I’m looking at it as we write back and forth. It is a nice go-to lens even though it weighs a bit more.
If Canon puts the 24mm or 40 mm pancake on sale but them. Fast cheap, and light. They are great walk around lenses for my Canon rebel 77D, and T7i
To CHG_CANON and Architect 1776:
I did misquote the lens designation. Please forgive me. The lens is a 70-300mm EF f/4-5.6 IS USM. It serves me well when I use it. It is not heavy in the bag and fits nicely Again, I’m sorry for misrepresenting this lens and thank you for pointing it out to me.
PS: To both of you and all Hoggers……. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving!!
I knew what lens you were probably meaning, but we don't play that way here on UHH when it comes to Canon EOS technology.
