Repairing My Canon 5D Mark IV

I tried to initiate a repair of My Canon 5D Mark IV. I went to the repair website from Canon and it keeps asking the same questions such as First Name, Last Name, E-Mail Address, enter a Password, Verify Password, First Name, etc.

I know I am doing something incorrect but still not getting in contact with USA Canon.

On the rear of my 5D Mark IV there is the Multidirectional Button underneath the START/STOP Live View Button. The Multidirectional Button had com loose and is about to fall off if not for a small piece of rubber holding it in place.

I have tried for two days to contact Canon USA. Is there a way I can just send an Email to Canon so that I can initiate my camera repair?

I have tried the Search Feature available without success.

Thanks to all my fellow hoggers in advance!

Thanks Jerry! Come Monday morning it will be the second thing I do. Please don’t ask what the first thing an old man like me does in the morning!

Have you tried this? Filling out requested info? Just trying to help. If you have already done this I apologize. You may have to apply for a Canon account. Maybe you already have one?

I've been a member of CPS, Canon Professional Services for years. I've sent my cameras in for repairs and yearly maintenance with no issues. The "Rush Service Form" has a fill-in box for service requests. It's a somewhat low cost membership that does have it's perks. (quick repair turn around)

Hello Mark!
Don’t worry about offending me. You must remember, I’m not from this planet. I don’t understand jokes, insults, etc. I have tried that but I have not been doing it correctly.
So us other worlders, I will try to call them. But thanks Mark. PS: I love your taste in music!

If calling Chicago, there's a one-hour time difference. That should give you time to do one or two more things before calling Canon.

I tried to initiate a repair of My Canon 5D Mark I... (show quote)

I had to set up an account with Canon's service people to be able to carry on conversations. There is a major service center about 30 minutes from me in Orange County, CA when the traffic is good. Once, I arrived just as the tech was finishing a job, and he told me to wait, and I had the camera back in about 30 minutes. They have a small museum of Canon cameras and gear in the lobby, with a large HO train layout you can run or use to test your camera(s) so I played with the trains while I waited and browsed through all the stuff they had for sale.

Yup! Besides being an old man gets you a seat on the bus, train, discounts in stuff every where you go. Don’t forget that the youngsters let you go first.

The majority of the young people are like that still today, not just in the past.

Many years ago, my wife and I chaperoned "Grad Night" at Disneyland for the high school where I taught at the time. She had hurt her knee, and we had to get her a wheelchair shortly after it started. Those kids were amazing, they let us go first everywhere, including passing us up to the head of the line at a food court, and often a kid would offer to push to give me a break. As we went by you could hear them yelling "Wheelchair Coming Through" and clearing a path for us. That was all the several thousand from many schools, not just the ones from my school who knew me. At the Pirates of the Caribbean boat ride, a couple of guys helped me get Debra into the boat and then took the wheelchair around to the end of the ride and had it there for us and to help me get her out of the boat.

I had to have my "joystick" replaced on my 5D also. The local repair shop did it for free when I took the camera in to be cleaned! I think that's a part that wears quickly - even if you don't use it much!
