NX Studio is my primary RAW data editor for Nikon files. If you are not going to print your images from RAW data using Studio NX actually makes no difference. If you shoot JPEG any editor will do a good job since the camera processed the colors already.
The Nikon software was designed to extract all the goodness in a Nikon RAW data and part of that goodness are the colors. For the best color reproduction my printer technician recommended this editor for my Nikon RAW data.

NX Studio is most probably not the best editor for RAW data, it all depends on how much editing you do. In my case it satisfies my needs and if I need further editing I convert the RAW data to a 16 bits TIFF and continue working with Affinity Photo. That has been my workflow for years and as I said I am very satisfied with the results.
NX Studio is my primary RAW data editor for Nikon ... (show quote)

I have much the same setup so a question: Do you find Affinity equal to the Studio NX for raws? Or do you have a preference. Reason asking is I haven't used NX for some time and have been having fairly good success w/ Affinity.
That being said, 'fairly good success' against what other program? I guess the reason I'm asking. Thx

Best way to answer your question is to try them both (and any others) with the same images. Be sure to be using the latest versions of both.

I posted here (UHH) on Nov 16. 2022, of some of my Yellowstone photos. I also commented on some of the NX Studio features (or lack there of). Over all I do like it, except for the learning curve, and the spot removal tool! On clear areas, it is OK, to frustrating, with objects in that area, it is NOT good! Check them out. I used NX Studio on these.
6 places in Yellowstone, slightly off the beaten path. June 2022 https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-757850-1.html

Glad you liked them!
I had a big problem with spotting on my sensor, as a result I still have a LOT of of photos to correct those spotting issues (fortunately not all of them!), and will have to use Photoshop on those. But I do like the how the colors were handled in NX Studio.

The very very simple solution in Adobe is to assure you're using the "Camera Standard" in the color profile section in ACR or LR, rather than "Adobe Standard". A very simple change and solution.

I use the Color Space: sRGB. The NX Studio usage by me was a trial. Checking it out, so to speak. Thanks for the helpful hints! This is in LR6.14, I think.

The edit colorspace and the camera profile are different things. In the LR6.14 Develop module, on the right-side panel, find the Camera Calibration subpanel, near the bottom (scroll down). This is where you change the profile. It's in ACR too, but someplace different. Change to "camera standard" before you start your RAW editing.

Appears to require a bit of a learning curve, with trial and in my case... lots of error. Thanks for the info.

I use NX Studio when culling images taken with my Nikon D5300. My main reason to use it is it will show the focus point for the pictures I have taken. My main photo activity is shooting at my grandchildren's sporting events (primarily soccer) and I find my biggest challenge is getting a good focus point which obviously impacts image quality. There may be others, but NX Studio is the most convenient software I have found to see the focus point while culling my pictures.
