Here’s a link to the passmark site. They list both the performance and price of almost any graphics card you can image as well as CPUs, etc. - very useful: https://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html

And here is how to tell what you have on a Windows machine. Go to the Task Manager and select Performance.

And you should see something that looks like this. I bought a Gamers PC about 6 months ago and it came with the RTX3080 which handles the AI software really well. My old PC used the RTX1070 and it labored with AI software.

Good advice. If you want to actually understand what your machine is doing and where the limitations are, Performance Monitor is your friend. (ctrl alt del and choose task manager)

Intel Macs are PCs and can run Windows natively, or via emulation, inside of MacOS. Apple Silicon Macs can run Windows for Arm 11 in Parallels Desktop.

Apple ceded the low end computer market from day one. Mac users really don’t buy on price. It’s an experience purchase. My computer model starts at $999, but with 16GB and 1TB, it was $1400 at the Apple Refurbished store (about 15% off). Adding drives, hubs, cables, an external monitor, and other goodies doubled that. I’m more than happy with it.

Actually, when you configure a Wintel PC to handle a similar workload, you wind up in a similar price range.

Not sure I agree (and glad to spec out a high performance PC for $1500 or less that will rival or outperform any 3k$ Mac you can buy), but even if it were true, if it’s a desktop, it can actually be upgraded.

Only a Triumph Spitfire from the 70's. Probably similar build quality...

I had to buy a Tow bar just to get it back to the dealer every time it broke down!
Looked a little funny behind my Suburban!
