I suspect many of the UHH's dismiss phone cameras based on early experience with them...however they have come a long way. I have been playing with the burst mode on my phone and while the results can't compete with "my dedicated camera" the results are surprising. Here are some samples...see if you agree. Keep in mind these were taken at about 35 feet hand heald.

"can't compete with 'my dedicated camera'"

I have a half dozen cameras, all very different. One is a phone. There are situations where my dedicated cameras can't compete with the phone.

The best camera is the one you have with you. My phone is with me ALL the time. my camera is with me most of the time.

I think we can all agree with this statement!
