This young man captured everyone's attention. He and his grandparents were leading their steers back from the show ring and were waiting in a people/animal traffic jam. He was definitely "in command" of this huge animal, enjoyed the attention of the crowds, but never lost focus in keeping his animal under control. I loved his sense of humor. It happened so fast I didn't catch a full face of the steer in the baseball cap.

Nice ones Pat, brave little kid there!

I've just spent most of the day cleaning our woodstoves and their chimneys and putting outdoor things away before the bad weather hits and am ready to toddle off to bed! Sooo ... thanks to everyone who checked in and posted to this challenge and I hope it will inspire visits to your local fairs next summer - they're loads of fun and fantastic sources of photo ops! Here are my last two for this challenge - night shots as we were leaving the Canfield fair. It was extremely dark which made the ISO go ballistic! It was a bit over 51,000 for the first shot and 22,800 for the second!! G'night all and thanks!!

Interesting pics here Sue, with high ISO, did you do any processing with them??

And thanks for hosting.

County fairs are a uniquely American celebration of farm life and agriculture held during the end of the growing season in late summer and early autumn, featuring animals, farm equipment exhibits, produce and craft competitions, and of course, rides and food, food, food!! Sooo ... this week show us the fairs you've enjoyed this summer and in the past. I'll start things off with some shots of the Columbiana County Fair here in Ohio.

It has been a good challenge, Sue. Thanks for hosting another one.
The last time I attended a fair of any kind I can’t really remember much and I didn’t take a camera with me. That was back in my college days, but I reminisce.
Back in my childhood I did participate in the Andrew County Fair as a 4H member. Raised a Hereford heifer to show, and made an electrical circuit with a duplex plug, a light socket, and a switch mounted on a 1x8 board. No ribbons, but got a “good job, son, but you should have wired the plug in parallel instead of series”. The things you learn when your young!

You caught the image that represents the hope of many a young girl (and perhaps some boys too) - certainly tells a story.

Sue, thanks so much for hosting. It was so much fun to "go to the fair" around the country. I've been occupied w family in a terrific way today so not had a chance to post. But this would be my finale followed soon by an early night to bed.
