This has absolutely nothing to do with photography. But it does have to do with where your money is going, and where it has been.
Yesterday I got a dollar bill as change at the grocery store. It had a web address written in the border. When I searched the URL it took me to an interesting site.
I was able to find out that this bill had been entered into the tracking system back in April of 2009. It also told me that "This bill has travelled 2,248 Miles in 2 Yrs, 180 Days, 1 Min at an average of 2.5 Miles per day.
It is now 2,248 Miles from its starting location."
It started in Bremer, Washington and I got it in Simpsonville, South Carolina.
Anyone can track money with the serial number located on every bill. The website is:
http://www.wheresgeorge.com/Has anybody else tracked money this way?
Yes - I have seen this and think whoever is defacing these bills should be arrested as the defacing and passing of same is a federal crime. Okay - no I am not serious, although it is a crime I am not promoting the idea of them being arrested as there may be a few other things that need to be taken care of first. As to the travels of your bill, I belive they figure the average life span of a dollar bill is only 18 months which is why the dollar coin is often promoted.
I've tracked a few bills, but I quickly lose interest, don't know where they are now...
Eric
Mines easy to track, it gets direct deposited and leaves by check almost immediately. I just to write the numbers in the book.
I never even see the money. It gets direct deposited, I always pay with the debit card. LOL I don't remember actually carrying *cash* since my last vacation in 2007. Is that sad or what? hahhahahaha
I tried to track my money ... couldn't find any!!!
Many of my dollars go to my wife never to be seen again.
