My Canon camera

My Canon camera has suddenly developed a lag between when I push the shutter button and when it actually shoots the picture. How can I get it back to the original setting?

I suspect that the camera may have some dirt or lint under the shutter button. Cleaning underneath is advisable but not by yourself. You should have it repaired by a reputable repair shop. If it is under warranty (I doubt) you could save a few bucks.

Hi Sally, is it the 80D? Click here for a pdf of the user manual. You don't say how long is the delay; could it be the self-timer? See page 140.

That solved my problem. Thanks so much for your help. It’ll save me a trip to the camera shop tomorrow.

I have a canon t3i and I have a similar question. When I am looking at the screen to take a pic it takes 2 seconds before it snaps the pic .why.

It sounds like you inadvertently turned on the 2 second delay self timer. Just go online and search for setting the two second self-timer on the Canon t3i.

I did find a video that might be helpful but I have not viewed it myself. If it's not helpful you may have to search for one yourself.

Ha!! I have “never” done that.

Truth is I have missed more than a few “next” shots because I forgot to turn off the self timer.

Operator error is a common problem for my own experience. Take a break and look at possibilities

The self timer was the issue. Thanks for attaching the manual.

When you press the shutter, does it beep?

I guess you didn’t get the memo? Problem was solved. The shutter timer was still in operation. See posts above.
