Nice set, beautiful country. I quit hunting many years ago when we camped in tents and walked. Our creed was that the size of the animal shot was directly proportional to the distance to a road

Did you mean inversely proportional? The farther away, the lighter the load should be (hopefully).

A fun and enjoyable set!! Great GPS screen by the way, love the elevation and nearest intersection!!
I think the camp with the horses has the best idea. We used to ride way up into the high passes near the Bob Marshall territory in Montana for elk hunting.
The peace, tranquility, and realizing just how small we really are will always be some of my fondest memories of horseback riding hunts.
Looks like fall is coming soon in those hills!

Many thanks, Rob...enjoyed your experiences in the Bob Marshall territory. For several years, we did horse back hunts along the north fork of the Shoshone River west of Cody. These hunts were in November and it was always freezing cold leaving camp in darkness at 5am to get up into remote passes. There is never enough shelter or clothes to get out of the biting wind when exposed on horses. Got my largest buck on one of those hunts!
