Another nice set Sylvia. You live in a very interesting and beautiful area of your country. I really like the stonework, the bridge, the houses and particularly the stone walls in the fields. Never heard the term beck before, checked it out and apparently it's unique to your area of the country. Was that mill originally for grinding grain then switched to generate electric power. Everything around you has a history. Something missing over here.

We ventured out to visit Wensleydale which is an area in the Yorkshire Dales National Park renowned for its famous cheese. Below are views of the surrounding area on an overcast day.

Cauldron Falls is set in woodland and gets its name from the churning plunge pool. Very dodgy underfoot with Bob acting as Sherpa and Bob the prop! The painter William Turner sketched here in the summer of 1816. Nearby was a working mill powered by a beck as it tumbled over the limestone rocks of the waterfall. It last functioned in the early twentieth century having been converted to generate the small village of West Burton in 1913. It wasn’t very efficient and autumn leaves often jammed the turbine. The National Grid arrived in 1948 and the mill fell silent. Today it is been turned into a residential property.

Great photos, beautiful scenery. I feel privileged to have lived and worked in England for two years and returned with the wife several times to visit the in-laws. I love the British country side, the history, old stone buildings and miles of stone fences. Your photos give me the urge to return again. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you so very much for your kind comments and thumbsup Jack. It’s surprising how many llamas we have in the UK.

Love them all Sylvie, and may I ask you your opinion, Now I have almost the same camera as you 600d with the kit lenses plus a 70x300, I love the 18x55, but get frustrated changing lenses, now, what do you think of the Tamron 18x400, as I feel that it would cover my needs, I come from Liverpool, but now live in New Zealand, been in NZ for around 22yrs, plus 28yrs in Aus, Regards Colin,

Thank you so very much for your kind comments Colin, happy you enjoyed them. Yes I too love the kit lens and also had the 70-300, but needed a longer reach for safaris. I find the Tamron works fine and I am very happy with it, apart from it being a little soft at 18 and 400, so I keep on eye on it. There are a number of members here who have it too and are pleased with it. We have been to Australia and we love NZ.

Once more, very nice and well photographed, Sylvia! I do have to tell you something and I am being very honest here; those photos of the waterfalls are probably some of the best that I have seen here, on UHH. The composition, lighting and the clarity are second to none.

So generous and encouraging Tom thank you very very much, always pleased to know you enjoyed them.
