I have been looking at this technique for a while now and thought that I would give it a try. Any thoughts on the effort would be appreciated

I used a long lens with a long shutter speed and hand held the shot while moving. The camera up and/or down

ICM is a valid technique. But usually not on macro type subjects. This appears to be a lead. I’ve seen it used in trees, particularly aspens.

first for those who looked and commented Thank you.. this is a shot that i made at 200 mm I shot this across a valley at maybe a quarter of a mile. It was a big dead tree in a high (over 8000 ft) forest. the color that you see is from the different evergreens in the forest. The tree itself was probably an aspen but I don't know that for sure. I have seen some photos done this way but usually they are tree trunks of something of that nature with maybe some fall color behind them. Was not sure how this would turn out but i rather like the abstract results. Again thanks for looking and for taking the time to comment

Very cool! That’s fun! I considered entering a local contest, but now they are asking me to help judge! We’ll see how that goes!
