"Apple Says Over 3 Trillion Photos Were Taken on iPhone Last Year" Can Canon, Sony or Nikon match that?

Boy I guess you didn't know that Apple iPhones use Sony image sensors, so Sony took those photos. Gotcha !!!!

Got to love it when UHHers dont do their research or know the facts before commenting. LOL

Of course more people in the world use smartphones now than dedicated cameras, but that isn't the point in this discussion at all.

BTW Sony leads the world in developing and producing image sensors for smartphones of many different brands. And Sony makes image sensors in all sensor size cameras of many makers from compact, to 1", to APS-C to fullframe to medium format cameras from numerous brands. Look it up.

Cheers and best to you all.

If UHH’s would do their research, they would realize that Nikon and Pentax also use Sony sensors - in fact I believe all but Samsung and Canon do, but as you said “that isn’t the point in this discussion at all”.

I have an 18-135 EF-S Canon which works well on my Rebel T6 and M5 via an EF to M adapter. Does remarkably well as a near macro altho camera body flash needs a diffuser to bring the light to the subject. This lens has been replaced as a kit lens with one with a slightly greater reach.

I've never understood the desire to put third-party glass on a top-of-the-line camera. I believe the Nikon D850 has an articulating screen.

Nikon f mount trinity for my D850: I picked the Sigma 14-24mm f/2.8 art because it is ranked higher than Nikon in IQ; I picked the Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8 and 70-200mm f/2.8 because they are ranked higher than Nikon in IQ. This per DxOMark.com lab tests. They have served me well for many years now.

Apparently just under one year from the first post in the thread.
Slightly old but not a true zombie thread :)

Ps, now a year later Canon is opening up the RF mount to outside makers.

I have been a Canon user since FTb days. Over the years they have improved on cameras and optics. This has caused me to abandon lenses because better way was developed. My last transition to 5ds caused me to replace lenses. Switched to all red line lenses. Costley move still compatible with R5 and adaptor ring. Cost for amateur photographers has gone up with advancement in technology today some things need to be abandoned. I have a row of cameras sitting on a shelf in my office to prove that point. You don't have to buy the top of the line camera, put you money in lenses. Still will be expensive, always has been for quality. Canon looked out for amateurs with adaptor ring you can still use your current lenses and get lenses with new mount just take off the adaptor ring.

I have been shooting Canon cameras since the AE1. I am not a professional and have been brand loyal. This past week Canon told Vitrox to quit making RF lenses and Tamron has made the decision to not make any RF lenses and I suspect that Sigma will follow suit. In my opinion, this is Canon creating a monopoly. I don't like being told what I can and can buy. I have the EOS R and was waiting for the EOS R update. One reason I stayed with Canon is that I love the articulating screen. I don't want to give this up. What other cameras also have fully articulating screens?

I was a Canon and Nikon pro user for over 40 years (both brands), then moved over to Sony Mirrorless and have never looked back.

Some Sony cameras have fully articulating screens, and there are over 200 quality native E-mount lenses with more being released from Sony, Sigma, Tamron, Samyang/Rokinon, Zeiss, Tokina, Viltrox, Meike and more. Many of these third-party lenses equal and even surpass the IQ of some the best Sony GM lenses.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Sony_E-mount_lenses
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_third-party_Sony_E-mount_lenses

Many people and reviewers around the world have commented that Canon's decision to restrict third-party AF lenses is actually starting to hurt Canon R camera sales worldwide. Many are dumping their R cameras or just choosing other mirrorless brands that offer the options for excellent image quality third-party lenses. The sales numbers for Canon R cameras show this, but dont expect UHH Canon fanboys to accept this reality.

'Canon: Why Won't You Adapt?"

As the administrator of a few Worldwide Facebook Photography Groups, I am hearing the about folks leaving Canon or just choosing other brands ,all around the world due to Canon's shortsighted decision here.

Cheers and best to you.

The usual comment from the super Canon fanboy who cant take any facts ,if they dont fit his vision of the "World according to Canon', LOL

Live in your perfect Canon fantasy world, and I and others in UHH will continue to put forth facts and show the reality, as will other reviewers, other photography forums and other photographers from around the world.

No one here in UHH that knows you, expects you to live in reality.

Cheers and best to you.
