Me to. I have some D lenses and had sold my Nikon DSLRs. Was disappointed when I found they would not AF on the Z cameras. Recently bought a beautiful D700 so those lenses are back in my good graces.

Yes, great lens! I bought a "used" 35mm slide and film conversion attachment kit from Jim Bianco after he finished with it and copying old film digitally is a breeze and fast!

Be well! Ed

Just want to add my two cents . . . .A great price for a fantastic lens. One great walk around normal lens that just happens to be a super performer in the field of macro imaging. I will never sell mine.

Works like an absolute dream for Slide/Film copying on FX.
In addition on a D7200 (or similar) it's an awesome portraiture lens...

That said the 60mm f/2.8D's working distance is unacceptable for macro... virtually impossible to light...
If you are serious about doing macro then get the 105 f/2.8D or f/2.8G at a minimum, better yet purchase the AF 200mm f/4D micro IF ED which is in a league of it's own (no the AF 200mm f/4 won't AF on Z bodies, albeit for serious macro you'll be manually focusing anyway).

Experience is a brutal teacher...

My macros come out just great with this lens if you know how to light the subject, that's a nikon 60mm 2.8 D lens a great all around lens.

"Knowing how to light" any subject for any lens is the basis of good photography, but it need not be a nerve-wracking experience !
FYI; my simple solution for most macro and a lot of other photos: TTL flash on the hot shoe of my camera, tilted 45-60 degrees forward, bounce card, reflector or what have you attached. One fellow even uses a Pringle's can, suitably modified on his flash to direct the light forward and closer to the front of the lens...Take the lens hood off, for heaven's sake! Not really useful for when the bug's fanny is up against the lens' front element, but for most of us and with reasonably close working distances...very adequate!

Jim and flyboy61 have you actually used the 60mm f/2.8D at 1:1?
1:1 is what defines "Macro" or in Nikon parlance "Micro"
I have used the AF 60mm f/2.8D micro 100's of times duplicating slides... it's working distance is precisely 2-7/8" (73mm) from the subject to the front of the actual lens front element. Albeit Nikon specifies 3.56" (90.4mm) to the rim of the lens tube rim (Note: the front element is deeply recessed thus a hood is generally "optional"

"...simple solution for most macro and a lot of other photos: TTL flash on the hot shoe of my camera, tilted 45-60 degrees forward, bounce card, reflector or what have you attached..." flyboy while this may (and does) work for closeup it simply isn't an option for 1:1 macro with a speed-light mounted on the hot-shoe. Nikon specifies ~ 2 feet minimum working distance for the SB-700 (the SB-910 is virtually the same).

Once again the AF 60mm f/2.8D isn't a viable option for actual 1:1 macro since it is impossible to light the subject.

Not knocking this brilliant optic, just the inappropriate guidance for anyone interested in true 1:1 macro unless you have a unique situation such as coping B&W negatives or Color transparencies...
In this scenario it is absolutely awesome (for working in an FX paradigm, for DX use the AF-S 40mm f/2.8G micro.)

Great Nikkor... Love it... Buy it.. You'll be a happy camper and it is likely the very best portrait lens for Nikon DX.
Besides with that free extra YELLOW rear lens cap that has Nikon printed on it you likely dazzle the ladies
Hope this helps to sell your beloved AF 60mm f/2.8D Bill, all the best on your marketing journey.

Thomas; I guess i'm just a close-up/crop kind of guy when all is said and done. I don't have a 60mm...yet, but soon. I appreciate your insights on all items photographic, though!

Flyboy your new Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 16-80mm f/2.8-4E DX ED VR SWM IF lens (you got with your D7500) focuses down to 1.15 feet (0.35 meters) from the image plane. This gives you a Maximum Reproduction Ratio of 1:4.5 which is serious closeup imagery.

That said the AF 60mm f/2.8D will give you a true 1:1 reproduction ratio when focused down to a couple of inches. Both these lenses weigh about the same... the major difference is VR in your AF-S 16-80mm making it much easier to get "sharp" images... However the AF 60mm f/2.8 yields incredible sharpness across the entire frame not just the center...

Enjoy that D7500 and Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 16-80mm f/2.8-4E DX ED VR SWM IF... Nikon rolled some amazing technology into both...

Also the D7500 has a focus motor so no worries with the AF 60mm f/2.8D if you decide to get one... it's an awesome lens and becomes the same angle of view as a 90mm lens on DX which is wonderful for portraiture and it's sharp even at f/2.8!

All the best on your photographic journey :)
