Diagonal Composition

One of Playboys best photographers, during the magazine's heyday, was a devoted advocate of diagonal composition when photographing semi-nude subjects. (I told my mother that I only read the articles.) Being interested in photography at an early age, I soon learned that diagonal composition was also appropriate when photographing other subjects as well. Take for instance this image of a Mourning Dove taken in my backyard. It was created with my Sony RX10M4 that only has a partial sensor. I shot at 1/640th second shutter speed and off a tripod to stop camera shake and blurring; F4 aperture trying to get bokeh; ISO 100 to avoid "noise"; and at 208 mm focal distance to give the bird room to breathe. The focus worked out alright and the bird provided diagonal composure, creating a decent shot. Hope you enjoy. Shooter41

Nice shot. I always try to pay attention to composition but sometimes the shot won't allow it. Then I try to crop or align in post.
