I had cause to go down to the creek yesterday afternoon and I was carrying my camera with me.

The first photo of a wave cloud was taken on the way down, the second on the way back was a general scene to the south showing the second wave cloud and the last a close up of that second wave cloud.

So this is for all the current or ex (as in my case) glider pilots that lust after soaring in the uplift underneath a wave cloud; the pinnacle of gliding experience!

More than amazing. Are you still active as a glider pilot?

Back when I was taking the glider flying lessons, I was told to wait until I saw a couple of turkey buzzards doing the column.

Even though I have not gone up in decades, I still spot those heat columns and wish I had a sailplane.

Me too! I was telling Jeannie yesterday that I have no real desire to go back to power flying but glider flying is a different thing altogether. Thank goodness there is not a glider club nearby! And that is so true about the buzzards; we see them locally soaring on goodness knows what!

I've ridden updrafts off the eastern slope of Rockies on several occasions. Nothing like being up so long you simply get bored after a few hours...

Lovely!

Where have you been in your glider and what soaring experiences have you had?

Haven’t even flown the 1-26 yet due to work but when I had my HP-11 I would fly out of mountain valley up the owens valley but flying with cypress soaring at Hemet most of the time

I vaguely recall going to Hemet but it was many years ago and the details are long gone.
