We often go to Northallerton and go into Barkers Restaurant which is very nice.

I know exactly where the restaurant is in the Barkers store, but we always ate at Betty's first and did our shopping afterward. The Barkers store is an amazing store for a town that size. It's amazing that we live 6000 miles apart, and yet we share that experience. I can't wait to return, but at this point, I don't think I want to have my luggage held up at Heathrow. Travelling is a mess right now.

Hugh Laurie, the English actor who portrays the American Dr. House, has a totally convincing native-born-sounding American accent when he's in character (and is a darned good musician, too).

I once read that the US Southern accent related to A British accent. I forget which one.
George

I live in NE Alabama and the type language spoken here is called Appalacian English as opposed to that which is spoken in southern Alabama and has been influenced from Louisiana , Mississippi and the Deeper South. There is evidence in my area and also in NW Georgia of the Welsh being here even before Columbus...

He was Rowan Atkinson's (Mr Bean) side kick in the comedy series 'Blackadder'.
