I'm not exactly sure about the processing that goes on here, but it involves a furnace and hoppers that feed in gravel and other materials to produce road finishing products. It certainly fit my idea of what industrial means to me.

Nice image! I like the texture.

Industrial photography is usually a photo-documentation, illustration, and/or photojournalistic coverage of any phase of an industrial process, plants, sites, construction sites in progress and related equipment, place of production or manufacture, etc. Also included are mining operations, railroads and transportation, etc.

These photographs are often used for advertising, annual reports, investment prospectuses, public relations, and intra-company publications and records.

In past years, many large corporations maintained their in-house photography departments whereas nowadays, much of the work is outsourced.

Some industrial images are rather straightforward and others are more artistic or interpretive. Your shot would make a great cover in a trad journal or annual report.

You do not have to be a hired professional to make a good image of industrial sites. They make extremely interesting images and are a relief from the usual landscape photographs. There are many graphic shapes and good compositional possibilities and interesting people too!

The industry is part of our landscape, life, livelihoods and technology. Why not photograph it?
