USPS Delivery Issue

While we are on the subject of deliveries....
Years ago my cousin in Alaska (a quilter) asked me to draw her a pattern for her of a Tn Walking Horse to applique in the center of a quilt. I sent her one, she got it, made the applique and put it on a beautiful quilt and shipped it to me USPS. One day while I was shopping, USPS left a notice in my mailbox that I had a package at the PO. I went there to pick it up and they couldn't find it. One employee said "It was here this morning." There was a lady working there who, (like us) owned and raised Tn Walking horses. After that day, she was no longer employed there but of course they either "found" a different reason to let her go or just knew they couldn't accuse her and prove she got it...so I never saw it.

I've run into this problem a couple of times and what I'm told by my local post office is that sometimes a package will fall out of the large cartons used to move the packages from place to place. It supposedly put in a misplaced package box and sometime later placed back in the delivery process. They report the progress of where the package has been but if you call any of those places, they don't answer the phone. I asked about this at two local post offices and they both told versions of this story. Basically you have to wait until the get around to it.

I’ve never had this happen before so I’d appreciate any positive advice. I consummated the sale,of a camera with a fellow UHH member and mailed it Thursday of last week via USPS Priority mail. Was supposed to deliver Monday of this week although the PO doesn’t guarantee that. I keep getting messages it is running late but in transit. Its been somewhere between Memphis and Arkansas since Monday of this week. I went to the post office yesterday and was told it’s in transit and not last. Clerk said if it’s not delivered in a couple days come back and ask again. What? When is it considered lost? Yes, it’s insured and PayPal is holding the funds. This is frustrating at best.

Thanks in advance…

My brother bought me a birthday present that was shipped USPS Priority. Tracking said it left the first location. One week goes by. Says the package was still in route. Two weeks go by, three weeks go by. Six weeks go by. No updates except one that said the package is delayed but still on its way. Kept calling them and they just kept saying it was delayed. No reason given why. Finally he asked for his money back. Never did receive the package. And I still don't have a birthday gift. 🤣

It used to be that you spoke with the local postmaster about issues, but now they’ve made that as difficult as possible. In my city, you can’t call the local post office directly - the published number is a toll free 800 number to some central location somewhere.

I'm less than a mile away from my PO, but the woman in charge isn't very pleasant. The others are okay, though.
