Is there any way possible that we can start a petition to get Quixdraw back in good graces on UHH? Could we start a petition to get him back? He is so full of knowledge and has helped so many of us to become better photographers.
Lets all sign a petition to get Quixdraw back on UHH. I would hope that admin would appreciate knowing how we all felt!

No need for a petition because Quixdraw wasn't banned permanently. He was suspended for 3 days for posting politics outside of the Attic and ruining forum experience of people who don't want to see politics when they view Main, Gallery, etc. It's a very simple rule, really. And most regulars know it.

His reaction to the three-day suspension was to tell me how he won't be sacrificing his principles. Lots of words, but the gist of it was that he is special so he won't be agreeing to not break the rules going forward, and if I don't reactivate him without it I must have no honor. Or something like that. I didn't read much into it. But apparently to him promising to not post politics in Main would compromise his principles.

He is still not banned, just suspended until he acknowledges that he doesn't intend to continue breaking the rules in the future. I see no point in reactivating the account of someone who posts politics outside of the Attic, keeps doing it after multiple warnings over the years, and when suspended refuses to confirm he won't keep doing the same if reactivated.

A petition won't really do anything here.

Thank you very much for the reply and explanation. This is one of the ways that I appreciate being on UHH. I highly recommend this site to all the photographers that I know because of the way that it is run. We are lucky to have the attic where we are able to post politics.

Thanks again,

Thanks. I suppose what a person chooses to photograph could be influenced by their politics, and in those cases, the work should be allowed to speak for itself. UHH has "the attic" available for political and other sorts of squabbling. I have to say that I enjoyed Quixdraw's use of older equipment and how he enjoyed heading out to see what was out there to capture.
