Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, Lake Michigan
Good one, Bob. Nice perspective.

Interesting from the photo composition/construction analysis. The vague skyline is well chosen or happened, a strong upper line would not have been desirable and would have competed with the diagonal sand water line.
An intriguing photo... Bob, your viewing point and handling of the camera setting were quite effective.
Humm, perhaps a candidate for splintered glass effect...

Very nice shot of an interesting place.
43 years ago, at probably that exact same location, I ran straight down the dune there. It was great fun, then I had to climb back up, not so fun...but I did do it!

I suspect you had to apply the brakes to slow your descent, Warhorse. As the images below prove, the climb back up is a daunting task, best left to the young or very fit.
Yes, going down was quite exhilarating with what seemed like 15' strides at times. You have pictured the climb back up accurately, I believe it took me 1-2 hours.
Left there, and went to a local watering hole to rehydrate, and bought a tee-shirt that declared my stupid accomplishment.

When in my early twenties a friend and I made the descent and return climb. Today I would probably just fall down and stay there.

The Coast Guard used to perform rescue missions to help people get back up the hill. Now, there are signs telling how much the charge for the rescue will be. They are adamant about the payment. They are also busy assisting folks who over estimate their physical prowess. I have seen this hill from the air. It is a long way UP!
