I noticed that I have a 64 GB card in one slot and a 32 GB card in the other, with the D750 saving images to both. I know I'll never fill a 64 GB card, but what would happen if that card got to 32 GB? Would the camera give me a warning that the second card is full? I've never filled any card in any camera.

Let the guessing begin!

I can't speak for Nikon but on my Canon it would just keep on recording to the empty card. Both my Sony and Canon cameras show how many estimated pictures are left on each card.

Yes, I can check in the little LCD to see how much room is left.

I have several Nikons. They all behave the same. They will save as I have directed, putting what I want saved where I want it to be, as long as space is available. If a space fills up, or if a card gets removed, they will continue to save what I have asked them to save in whatever space is available, until that space fills up. Then they report that the memory is full.

I keep a 32 GB card in slot 2 for JPG capture and a 128 GB card in slot 1 for RAW file capture. I've never filled up either one...

? What would it do to the card that became full? Display an error message? Just stop recording to that card without any warning?

Do you mean if you saved format A to card one and format B to card two, if card two became full would it save both formats to card one?

I use 64GB cards with my D850 shooting jpeg. The camera estimates one thousand frames with a freshly reformatted card. Pretty big files, around 25 Meg. But if I ever decided to shoot RAW (not) I would probably have to use bigger cards. I only use the SD slot.

Jerry,
What ever your menu settings are set for are what the card behavior is.
You can have slot 1 set to overflow into slot 2 when full.
You can assign it to, yes give you a card full message.
You can assign slot 2 to duplicate whatever is in slot 1 and when either card is full it will read "card full"
You can assign it for photos on 1 and video on 2
I have mine assigned for RAW on slot 1 and overflow and video on card 2. 32mb. in slot 1 and 128mb in slot 2

My Sony will display an error message and stop recording until either the card is replaced or the setting changed to record on a single card

Don't guess, check your camera owners manual.

On my D750, the smaller card is for jpeg, the larger one is for RAW. This is rare, but I believe when it gets to either one being full, it says "card full" (or some reasonable facsimile). I can pull out the full one and keep shooting.
