No Hand-Held Remote Control for a Canon 1v

I had purchased a few years ago, a remote control for my Canon 5D. Although it is wired, it has many other cables that will attach to other make and model cameras. Recently, I heard about a wireless remote control (RC6) so I picked it up. It works very nicely with my 5D.
Unfortunately it is incompatible with the Canon 1v. The wireless remote control doesn’t seem to work with my older camera. I have resorted to using the wired remote control. I am wondering something. Are my settings on my 1v incorrect? Can someone help me?

BTW, I checked both camera manuals for instructions.

I'll guess there are different remote models for different cameras.
Not a "one remote works all" situation.

Some digital cameras use wifi for remote control, others use Bluetooth, and some use both.
You might want to google your Canon 1v to see which one it uses. Some older cameras had only wired remote control.

I checked back as far as possible. It seems that the Canon 1v-HS had a standard remote control port that had a small plastic cover on it. It was on the left side of the front.

I was able to use a Universal Timer Remote Control device. Otherwise, it is an intervalometer. The advantage is that the wire is sufficiently long enough and has several detachable wire adapters for various camera makes and models

Mine is no longer available but there are others that are just as useful.

Can't help other than to say I have had similar headaches with wired and wirerless controls for my various Pentax cameras. Each camera seems to be different and one is even fussy about using non-Pentax branded units. So I understand your frustrations.

Page 133 of the EOS 1v user's manual shows the legacy Wireless Controller for this circa 2000 film camera, item LC-4.

Should have purchased a Vello Shutterboss Wireless system. They will work will any Canon camera. Just change the cord for the receiver to the camera. The cost of a wireless Vello Shutterboss system would be cheaper than buying a Canon system. I use the Vello Wireless Shutterboss system on all my cameras. It only cost me $49.00 Receiver and Transmitter.

This appears to be for digital cameras.
The 1V is a film camera.

The shutter actuation is independent of recording medium. I use the Canon TC remote that I purchased with my 1V with my 1DX Mark III. All that is important is the connection detail.

I had the same problem finding a wireless remote for my Old and Pana gear. Finally set up a live phone call with a B&H salesperson, who got me what I needed.

When I have those sorts of isues I always ask the guru's at b&h. They are spot on every time. Don't if it's because I've spent a kazillion bucks there but I would give them a try.

I like everyone’s suggestions here. Personally I hate purchasing after market accessories. It would be so much easier if everything you need was included in the box. Trouble is the manufacturer would not make a profit.
