BW forum section

I have now scanned the extensive section list 3 times thinking surely I must have missed something but I cannot seem to find any section devoted to BW photography. This was prompted by Bob's spectacular images related to his continuing explorations of BW photography and use of the Zone system. Myself, as a total newbie to all of this but deeply interested in expanding my knowledge of BW photography, was wondering if a special section would be warranted and productive. There seems to be a lot of BW images published lately and maybe that is showing a renewed interest in this type of photography. I personally would like to see this as much of a learning and critique site more so than just showing off one's images. Surely there is someone out there willing to moderate and guide the rest of us in this endeavor. I am only on my first cup of Joe but wanted to get these thoughts out before wandering off into another train of thought.... Bob

There are a lot of BW photos posted in the Street Photography section. This might give you some leads and help.

I would like a B&W sub-forum as well, but I think it would have to be run by volunteer(s).

Periodically, people express interest in a section devoted to black and white, but so far nobody has volunteered to be the manager. Admin has shown a willingness to create new sections (hence we're up to 40 or some-such number ); however, users are not automatically subscribed. Consequently, many of the sections are quickly abandoned or forgotten in favor of the high-volume Photo Gallery.

I hear you Linda... There seems to be a LOT of sub sections that do not seem to get a lot of activity. I guess for me this will prob. be a personal endeavor and any questions or critiques can be addressed by some of the more knowledgeable folks around here... Thanks for the link.

If you post in Gallery, make it clear in the topic title that you are requesting critique and suggestions for improvement (and then repeat that request in the opening).

Also, don't forget the ability to chat with users via private message. My experience is most folks are very willing to help!

If there was a B&W section, I'd visit it and post.

I am very interested in B+W and would be very interested in a forum for that. I am a fan of Ansel Adams and the zone system. I carry a zone 5 card to this day. all black and white photos posted I analyze with the zone system in mind. I built a B+W darkroom in the basement of my first house. and kinda miss it.
