Saw this beautiful flower. SHould I have gotten rid of the out of focus flower as well?
I donβt see a bad one at all!
I like the 1st one a little better. All are good, though.
First one , more to see .
Great images, but I prefer number two.
I think the problem is more of a compositional one unless you like target signs.
I like the last three best.

I was thinking it looked a little like a stop sign, and/or a extra-terrestrial creature, that is why I put the main object in the middle, what would you suggest?
Enlarged and hung over a sofa might be a great place for it! But you are the artist, it is yours to display as you wish!

thanks, but i am in a local photo club and have entered several of their contests, and as a result, I was interested in a discussion of which is the best, sort of which might be enterable, and what suggestions might be made for improving the image.

Good question. I would definitely shoot the symmetry like you did possibly opening my f-stop to try and blur the bkg. more as DOF of the flower is minimal at this angle, then stop down more and try a 3/4 view possibly finding supporting elements in the bkg. to form a dominant and subordinate composition.
I have been in a couple of camera clubs too. And I can guarantee you won't score high on centered compositions.
Thanks for asking.

I prefer the images without the Bright spots

When I looked at the images, it seemed to look like paint splatter in the center until I put my glasses on.
The shots are well done. I find flowers placed in the center of the print to be like those used to sell the seed(s). IOW, a promo shot. If it is a promo shot, a solid background usually works best. As for photo contests, it depends on the stated purpose for the shot.
For my preference, I liked the first shot because it made the flower stand out, by comparison with the blurred flowers in the background. Shifting the flower from the center would actually give it more presence.
All the above is my opinion in answer to the topic. I believe that I may qualify as one of the "people".
I like #1 with the out of focus flowers in the background.
