Pretty amazing that the Canon R7 is as fast as the Sony A1 and the vaunted Z9.
And at 30 fps it shoots raw files where the Z9 only goes at 20 fps (R3 does raw at 30 fps as well).

"...The groundbreaking new Canon EOS R7(opens in new tab) and Canon EOS R10 mirrorless cameras! The EOS R7 in particular is grabbing all the headlines, thanks to its incredible specs as Canon's new flagship APS-C camera.

The competitively-priced Canon EOS R7 offers pro-level 15fps mechanical shutter burst speeds, intelligent AF tracking for vehicles, people and animals, big-time 32MP image resolution, and is Canon’s first APS-C camera to feature in-body image stabilization.

Despite its lower price and lower resolution 24MP sensor, the Canon EOS R10 also matches the R7 with 15fps mechanical continuous shooting. To put these burst speeds in perspective, the R7 and R10 are both mechanically faster than any other Canon EOS camera – including the Canon EOS R3, Canon EOS R and Canon EOS R6 – and the R7 offers 30 frames per second electronically – which matches the R3, Sony A1 and Nikon Z9 (unless you factor in the latter’s 11MP crop mode)."

Canon has maintained 18 straight years as the #1 market leader in digital interchangeable cameras. They represent 47% of the entire market, larger than Sony and Nikon combined. No matter the hopes and hallucinations of our UHH community's many FanBoyz, Canon's leadership position will be maintained with the migration to mirrorless cameras, where Canon dominates with just a few bodies and a lot of excellent lenses.

And we haven't heard yet more than just rumors of the EOS R1 monster waiting to come and wipe the floor ...

Canon is doing well with the line up.
The R1 will fit in with the Olympics coming up as they generally do.
No rush with the very broad range of bodies now and every one different, not just a rehash of the same thing with a II or a retro look.
RP, R, R6, R5, R3, R7 and R10 are all very distinct and different.

I’m glad to see that both Canon and Nikon are continuing to build crop bodies after the move to mirrorless. There are advantages to crop for some kinds of photography and with regards to both weight and price, so a win-win, especially for wildlife shooters. Maybe paired with an RF 100-400? (or the 100-500 for 4x the cost and 2x the weight?). Given an “effective” FL of ~650 mm with a weight of <3lbs or 800mm @ 4.3 lbs, that’s a pretty good lightweight BIF combo.

There is nothing more sad and disgusting than seeing grown men praise the virtues of the cameras they use!

Every successful photographer is driven by an inner voice telling them Canon is the better camera.

I don’t understand why. When a a person spends substantial money for an important (to them) item, I would expect them to believe in its virtues, or else why would they have bought it in the first place? Owners should take pride in the nice possessions they have worked hard to purchase - men (and probably women although I can’t speak for them) do it all the time, whether it’s an automobile, a house, a firearm, a camera or… Haven’t you ever bought something and praised its virtues? I certainly have - it’s called pride of ownership.

No it’s just so sad when their identity is so tied to one company that they feel the need to denigrate others.

I have a d850, shoots a dismal 9 fps. But I've never been able to over run it. I don't understand why fps of 30 is so important.
I wonder how many on the forum use all 30 frames?

Jealous?
Praise virtues of an automobile is ok?
What about an amazing rifle?
Sounds like sour grapes.

I have been told that in fast action like BIF that while a 9 fps camera is cycling it will be missing the money shot.
Not all 30 are even close to being used but that amazing one shot a lethargic camera like the D850 would miss complete.
Olympus and now some others even start ahead of the actual shutter release recording.
Pretty amazing feature.

Once again, you come off like a used car salesman. I have used Nikons, Fujis and Leicas for many years. Nikons were film and digital. Each camera was great. A local camera store recently loaned me a Canon EOS R5 for a few days, which I have to admit is terrific. No camera has or will make me or anyone a better photographer, not even the Canon, inner voice aside. Please be helpful to others in the forum.

I have been using my 850 for a few years and gotten lots of bif that are tack sharp. I am not aware of any 'money shot' that I've missed but I have gotten a few being slow and patient. You go ahead and get your Oly that can start taking pictures before you are set up. I'll stay with my trusty 850
