Just playing around with some jewelry that we have around the house. the ring is over 60 years old and was given to me by my parents for my Confirmation. So it has some wear and tear on it.

Good choice of lighting for each of the subjects.

Thanks RG. I used a soft box that i bounced off the ceiling, and a panel light on the right and a mirror on the left.

Frank did well, the texture and shine of Jewelry is not easy to photograph... lighting is key as he explains above.

The bracelet shot was taken many times. I tried various lighting set ups. The posted shot was one of the first renditions I did. As it turned out I should have quite while I was ahead.😀

I enjoyed seeing you try something different Frank. I studied the second one for some time trying to figure out how you lit it. Confusing was having reflection on the back side.🤔 Never figured it out.
When I shoot jewelry I use either a white or black acrylic sheet, keeps the reflections smooth and sharp. Had part is keeping the acrylic from scratching.

Jim, I use a clear acrylic sheets on some of my shots. But for these shots I used some packaging material. I forgot what I ordered, but when I saw the packaging I knew I would use it. It is cardboard with a silver not use if it is aluminum coating but it has a sculptured texture to it. So it gave it a muted reflection.
