Between rainstorms, we found ourselves traveling the 17-mile road throughout the bison range this past Sunday. We had not been there in years. It was a wonderful day viewing the wildlife, especially the bison herd.

"One of the most unique animal refuges in the nation, the Bison Range was originally established by the United States Federal Government but was recently returned to the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes (CSTK).
This region was home to buffalo far longer than the settlers who sought to eradicate them, so the return of the range to the original stewards of this land was a huge boon for the CSTK, the tourists who visit, and the buffalo that now live here."

Thanks, I too will be there soon. I grew up in the valley shown in your 4th picture. I spent a lot of time at the Bison Range back in the day as we had lots of family and school gatherings in the picnic area as well as taking lots of visitors through the park.
If you find yourself in the area in early October they bring the bison down to the corrals and work them (give them shots, cull the heard and chip them to keep track of the lineage etc. ).
It is called the Round Up if you google it you can get the exact dates.
