Perfect! Yes—this is what I was hoping to find! Thanks!

Drive west out of Hofn on Hwy 1. I don't know the exact distance but there is a small bridge with a signpost for the area. As I recall, the symbol for a hot tub & a few other things. Turn off Hwy 1 onto 984 Hoffellsvegur, a narrow gravel road about for about a kilometer. The hot tubs are Hoffel Hot Tubs and you should be able to find them on Google Maps

Thanks for the directions! Iceland sounds so great I already wish were spending more than 2 weeks! Am doing research and Working on my photo skills too. Wonder if I should take 150-500mm. Not going on whale watch. May just miss puffins.

I'm quite positive that you will enjoy Iceland. I've been there 4 times, and am going back this fall. I increased my stay from 2 weeks to 3, and I'm not sure that will be enough. Oh, well, there is always next year.

I don't know what to recommend for lens. Most of my shooting is done @ 18-135 (Canon Kit lens). If you plan to shoot puffins, you will want a longer lens. You can't get very close to them.

For phone service, if you have an unlocked phone, I'd suggest getting a local sim card. I've have very good results with Vodafone. They aren't too expensive for short term use, and have good coverage around the island. I still have my sim card from last year, and it looks as though I'll be able to re-activate it. Very useful for map directions.

Great help! Thanks. We have not traveled internationally in a while. We are not avid/day-long hikers, which reduces what we can get to, but I know we’ll see plenty. With the years flying by and several other big trips on our bucket list, I doubt we’ll get to return to Iceland, so we’ll pack in all we can. Thanks so much for the tips.

I brought my Canon G5 X, which has a short-ish zoom of 24 - 100. I never wanted more.
