How quickly we forget. I "googled" Zip drive because I didn't know what it was. When I saw the picture, I thought "Yeah, I had one of those." I wonder what happened to it. I guess it went away along with my memory.

I still have my ZIP250 and about 2 dozen Zip Disks. It apparently doesn't work with Windows 10/11
I attached the 250 drive to my Win11 HP laptop and was able to transfer a number of jpeg images to a 100 mb disc. Was kind of slow and took a while but worked OK.

I used ZIP and then JAZ drives in my office for our files. Then one day the ZIP drive failed and it was then I learned that the "click of dealth" was a well-known issue. Cost me a lot to find someone who could recover the files and I then went to an HP server and RAID drive bank for any and everything important.
I guess you can still find ZIP disks and eBay but there are better, faster, and much safer choices out there. But the disks do may a very nice coaster for your drinks :)

Like everybody else, I had a ZIP drive and a few dozen disks. After I went to other media drives and determined the ZIPs were incompatible with my Mac, I dumped them. Lost a whole bunch of old sports photos, but they've been long replaced with newer and better images. Bp

This shows the importance of mixing media for backup.
