Some CA Oaks reside down the block near where I live in an undeveloped area. It’s called Oak Savana. A developer want’s to cut them and install houses. The neighborhood has been fighting it. I walk by them with my camera occasionally and try to capture their essence. This one was taken in afternoon golden light.

Somebody needs to run that developer out of town for wanting to cut down those beautiful trees. Nice photo!!

JD, your purpose is admirable, the story one of thousands heartbreakingly similar.
For me the essence might be better captured without the fence and road. Not sure how to present the size, strength and beauty, but perhaps worthwhile to pursue further?

Hope they save those lovely old trees.
Could you find out how old they are? What you've shown looks like way more than 100 years of growth. That point may be worth emphasising if anyone's launching a campaign to save them. Trees like that are a treasure to any community. Developers can get land elsewhere but trees like that are irreplaceable.
Thanks all for stopping and commenting. 😄
My guess is the trees are over 100 years old but I don’t know the exact age.
A neighbor has a huge oak he is very proud of it. It is probably 3x the size of these. He says his is 800 years old. Boggles the mind!
Hard to frame it without the fence so I tried to minimize it as best I could.
I chose BW because I wanted the shapes and textures to stand out.
As for the future it’s hard to know. Those trees are protected by CA law but he got the permit somehow to cut them. But the neighborhood stopped him from proceeding. It’s tied up in court now. So no all is not lost.
Very nice image JD750. Similar situation here in Florida, cut everything down and pour concrete!
