I have a Nikon D90. We are having a pow wow at our house for the 3rd year. I usually get some good shots, but the night time around the campfire is difficult. Any suggestions for taking night time shots with Nikon D90?

not very good picture, but that's the crew

How fun is that! A couple of things you can do... Use as fast a lens as you can f2.8 minimum if you can afford it, bump up the ISO to 1600/1800 or so and use a mono pod to help stabilize the camera. Don't use auto mode I would use you aperture value mode or all manual mode and set exposure to 1/100-1/125 second and your aperture as wide open (ie f2.8 or as wide as your lens will go).

Try using a Nikon 35mm f/1.8 DX lens. This lens is very good in low-light. The cost new is around $200.00.
