Loc: Coeur d'Alene, Idaho
My favorite little town is Murray, Idaho. Current population is about 60 +/-5, but still worth the visit. Murray is an old gold rush town founded in the early 1880’s. Several interesting residents were Wyatt Earp and his brothers after a little problem in Tombstone, AZ. Wyatt moved down the roar a few miles to Eagle City where he opened a bar. Another person of interest was Molly Burdan, a “lady of the evening”, better known as Molly B’Damn. You can find information about her life with a quick Goggle search.
Murray is located about 40 miles up the North Fork of the Coeur d’Alene River into the National Forest. It takes me a bit longer to get there because I have to take pictures along the way.
When you arrive at Murray there is sign with directions to other towns named Murray just incase you were at the wrong Murray.
There are a few unoccupied building dating back to the 1880’s.
Murray actually has a Post Office, probably typical of the one in your town.
This is what I actually came for. The SPRAG POLE, a fine restaurant/bar with a large “free” museum.
This is what the SPRAG POLE looked like 32 years ago. It’s the first painting I ever did in my life. My previous painting experience was painting the house; inside and out as needed.
An imaginary prize for anyone guessing the country this was taken in last week
A path to a contemplation seat, the contemplation seat and the natural stone step access from below through a gate coming up to the contemplation seat.
Lovely white bench and surroundings.
A couple from my files. Balloonfest in Centralia, Ill., and at the Oshkosh, Wis., airshow.
