I use Windows 10. Within the last month, down in the bottom left search bar, there now appears some small graphics in the search bar, just to the right edge. This graphic changes randomly without my doing anything. Has anyone else seen this newfangled thing? Was it part of some Windows update? Is there an ON and OFF switch to see the graphic or not? It's not a major concern, but just thought I'd ask.

I noticed that the other day, and I made a mental note to get rid of it. Like many notes, I lost it.

To remove it, right-click on the task bar, click on 'Search', and then uncheck 'Show search highlights'. It was bugging me too until I discovered how to get rid of it.

Thanks for the solution. I asked my computer guy and he didn't know how to get rid of it. I have a hate for anyone who puts stuff on my computer that I do not ask for, particularly MS, Google etc. I want to make these decisions. It makes you wonder what are they putting on it that you are not told about?

Many years ago, all of a sudden, the Uber app appeared on my phone. Had no clue what an Uber was.

Deleted it promptly.

Apple does similar things. Apple has incorporated some tricks into their OS that runs on my iPad that causes weird things to happen if one inadvertantly swipes the screen in a particular way or spot on the screen and you get windows that pop up and block your view and there is no obvious way to get rid of the annoyance. The latest OS has incorporated an annoying pop up at the bottom of the screen whenever you change from one app to another that shows small screen icons you can apparently touch to open other apps or past screens you’ve visited. I can’t figure how to turn that annoying feature off either.

I did it, and it worked. Thanks.

I just remove the Search bar. Problem solved. You can still search for 'things', just hit the Start button first.
