Not sure if I mentioned the changing light conditions-fast moving clouds-from mostly to partly cloudy, at times brilliantly bright. It was windy as well.

Male Western Tanager on Red Hot Poker- the male bird matches the color scheme of the Red Hot Poker.

RWBB was hanging out preening while watching a crow she was chasing.

Western Gull watched as we watched and photographed the Tanagers in the Red Hot Pokers.

Song Sparrow sang the entire time of our visit!

Rufous Hummingbird heading in to a Red Hot Poker plant for some nectar.

Download and Enjoy!

Thanx for the kind words! I think the less than ideal conditions lead to better shots! The birds fly lower.

Beautiful set, great capture on the Song Sparrow. I really like the Gull. I'm going to go out on a limb again but I'm going to be more careful this time.

The gull is not a Western Gull because the mantle is not dark enough. It is not a California or Herring Gull because of the gray, not black, wing tips. Is a Glaucous-winged Gull because the mantle and wingtips are the same shade of gray.

Thanx for viewing and commenting. Could be- gulls are tough to ID. That Song Sparrow “followed” us from spot to spot singing. It was a fun day.
