The anticipated passing of the APS-C format appears unfounded, as Canon announces the EOS R7 and R10 and two new lenses.

Wow, I didn't know APS-C was sick.

Well most of the product excitement recently has been full frame! For example Sony's last new APS-C models date from 2019, and even the Z Fc is almost a year old.

And, as I understand it, APS-C format in RF mount is new for Canon.

Exactly. My Fuji XT-4 is what I use 90% of the time right now.

Well other respected members here have had a different view:

I thought cropped sensors were done along with mirrors. Oddly no.

Interesting.
I suppose I'm not cognizant because I'm not watching.

(My next camera will have a sensor, of some sort. )

I watch for amusement, since I'm perfectly happy with my existing APS-C stock, and view full-frame veneration with somewhat of a jaundiced eye.

Well, larger format means larger bodies mean larger sensors mean larger lenses mean larger prices mean larger profits.... What else is new ? Didn't you know, You NEED FF...

If your sensor throws away 60% of the frame, how will you ever achieve your potential as a photographer?

You're right. I'm going to start using this camera again. Bigger is better. You just said so. I believe you. I always do.

Because that 40% that remains is the crème de la crème.

Canon let Jared Polin play with both the R7 and R10 for a few hours down in Florida. Here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G7Vw3bcMlxw . I am an aps-c fan and almost fell out of my chair at a 32.5mp aps-c camera with a lot of the features of the R3, especially the AF system, RF mount, 15fps with the shutter and 30fps electronic shutter. The price point is amazing as well at $1500 without lens, $1900 with a 18-150mm kit lens. Well done Canon, I am impressed. I will not sell my Nikon gear, but I just might have to pick one up along with a long lens. Supposed to be shipping in June.
