I am getting a bit tired of folks stating that "PP is for those who cannot shoot". SOOC is all I need.
This shows either a complete misunderstanding of what PP is about or a rejection due to not being able to use PP correctly. (We see the same type of comment about using flashes, among other things.)
I have posted an example of what a decent PP does to an image.
Note:
This is a stacked image (another form of PP, but this not what I am arguing about in this thread).
Can’t help but feel you’re on a hiding to nothing with this Rongongo, there will always be folk that think the way you describe. The best bet really is to let them get on with it and don’t worry about it. Those that use pp know it’s value.
I'll rely on Ansel Adams. His quote regarding this is, "You don't take a photograph, you make it."
To illustrate my point. Here are a few. Oh, the SOOCs were exposed to look like that. They were not mistakes.

What value? All it does is a make a mockery of the original image!
An awful lot of energy on this site goes into trying to convert the unwilling. Why? There should be enough folks here to be able to gather into like-minded groups in order to learn, enjoy, admire, and be inspired by what they like most about photography.
Linda, your observation is quite accurate. Why? Probably little else to do at the present.

Actually, I am quite busy shooting stacked close-ups of orchids. This thread came about because I was answering someone earlier and checked his profile history first.
His original post ticked me off, then his history showed way too much ignorance on what PP is about. Instead of revving his older thread, I created a new one, concerning all.
Venting if you prefer.
Funny how you are on 'grand scale' and I am into smaller things...
It took me a long time on UHH to decide other people's willful ignorance is not worth any effort on my part to attempt to educate. You'd probably be surprised to learn that part of my training in deflecting ignorance or rudeness with humor came from my brief experiment in The Attic

I should have said "willful" ignorance. Will edit that now.

wow- that's pretty dramatic ... gotta figure out how to do that ... the "object of the exercise" (as i see it) is not some sort of ideological purity, but the capture of the image and the statement you make in doing so ... how you got from "a" to "b" is irrelevant to the person standing in front of the print

IMHO, part of the value in a forum is education. If someone has an opinion on something, it's not enough to state the opinion. The opinion has to be backed up with reasons. If possible, examples.
I will allow anyone to do whatever they want with their photos. If SOOC makes them happy, I will not complain. If it's a problem, it's not my problem. However, if they voice an unsupported opinion I will present my side. I reserve the right to ask them to elaborate on their opinion and reasons therefor.
