Not sure this is the proper forum to sak this, but here goes.

My 2 GS10s are finally paid off and I thinking about switching to the iPhone 13 pro or staying with the GS22 ultra.

I've read many posts on this subject and not getting any definitive conclusions.

What are your thoughts and if you have any links for further reading, let me know.

Thanks in advance

the apple phones seem to manage battery power better and retain value better than android. I am aware that apple has issued a patch for no-click spyware (see Pegasus), not sure about the android phones. It is possible to get mostly rid of google on the android phones if data logging is a concern.

I'm simple...

I has a GS3 for, oh, 8+ years with a nice camera.
I just changed to a GS21, only because the S-III will no longer be supported after 12/31/22.
I like it.

It's a phone that has a camera that does nicely.

Life is good.

I have the iPhone 13 pro and my DW has the S22 Ultra - her camera, IMHO, is better, but other than the camera, I prefer the iPhone.

I recently had to replace my Nokia Lumia 635 which I had used for many years. I will not purchase an Android phone, so I chose the iPhone SE2. I'm happy with it, but I'd still be using the Lumia if I could get away with it.

It depends what you want in a phone. My son and I switched to TracFone a few years ago, and it is almost free. We buy name brand phones from TracFone for under $100. I have two phones, just in case. Not many people would buy two $1,000 iPhones "just in case."

I have the S21+ and the battery life is excellent. Much better than any other phone I've had. I also considered switching to Apple, but my grandson, who works for a mobile phone carrier and also uses Apple said that he thought that since I was already used to the android, that it would be easier to stay with it than learning a new system. I am perfectly happy with the S21+. Just something to consider. Learning a new system may not be a problem but I wasn't sure how much trouble it would be in my case.

I owned Apple phones for many years before switching to Samsung, and I would not go back. The S22Ultra is a great phone and added memory won't rob you.

Do you have hearing aids that can use the low energy bluetooth in Iphones?

I and my wife have always been on Android phones. We like that we can get into the innards of the phone if necessary, unlike Apple. Also, for ANY phone, the recommendation is to charge battery to 80% most of the time, and not charge overnight up to 100%. This is to lengthen battery life. To do this, we've installed app AccuBattery from the Play Store. When the battery reaches 80% charge, it sounds a jingle-jingle, and then we manually disconnect from the charger.

Apple phones are more secure. Apple App Store is more secure than Google Play and whatever else you might be using on the Android side. Apple actually cares about your privacy and security. Apple's iOS is easier to use, more elegant, and just better overall (opinion, Android users might argue about this one but the first couple are pretty accurate if the Android folk are willing to admit it. Apple's cameras and photo processing algorithms are better than Android most of the time.

However…Apple's hardware and software is not perfect, neither is their security or App Store…they're just better than the competition. Apple is also the walled garden as it's called…whether that is a benefit or not (because of the security/privacy things) depends on whether you think it is or not.

Pricewise…there might be a difference and there might not be, never looked as the security and privacy are important to me.

Nothing wrong with Android phones…but some people prefer iPhones over the competition…just like some people drink bourbon and some drink scotch…it's personal preference. If you have other devices in the Apple ecosystem and don't mind using their contacts/calendering system…an iPhone meshes better with their ecosystem than an Android phone does.

IMO…iPhone is really the only viable alternative assuming you value privacy and security…but YMMV. My hearing aids (Resound) work great with my iPhone via BT.

Kind of where I am at this time. Not sure about the learning curve at my age (70+)!

It is just as easy to fall into the trap of " Identity Photography " as it is with " Identity Politics ". What needs do you have that your current brand does not supply you with anymore ? Are there areas of the Apple that exceed what your brand gives you ? Do you have other Apple products in your home that you wold like to integrate with ? Sometimes the grass is not always greener... iOS vs. Android is no better than Canon vs. Nikon. Your needs might be served better by one than the other... Only you can evaluate that. Either way, they are ALL only going to get better.

A lot of good questions that my wife and I will explore.

Consumer Reports has a great comparison chart I just printed out which will help in decision making.

Apple still uses that dumb notched screen after using android especially Samsung it will bother you Samsung screens are more vibrant nicer looking oh S22 ultra has your screen pen too can be very usefull pnce you learn to use it apple has no pen at all on any model . Your best value is a last model Samsung a S21 or a used newer one....Apple even used not much cheaper then new...yes I have had both. Watch reviews on the YouTube will tell you what you need to know . Oh last thing Android much better stronger charging port and cable type C and is more universal most electronics use type C, Apple still uses the flimsy easy to break lightning charging cable.
